Budapest Visions
A photographer friend of mine introduced me to the in camera motion blur technique, and when I visited my birth city, Budapest, during the summer of 2015 I realized, that this technique would perfectly convey my feelings about Hungary. I left Hungary almost 25 years ago, as a young woman. I had the privilege to visit my family and friends almost every year in the past 20, which I am grateful for. But, in the past 3-5 years I started feeling a weaker and weaker connection between my birth country and myself. The country changed a lot, and I did too during this last quarter of the century. I love photographing the beautiful buildings in Budapest, and I have taken thousands of photos of them in the past decade. But in the summer of 2015 I understood how I can portray my feelings for a place that I used to adore and love, but now have more neutral feelings for. It feels like my past and my memories are fading away, getting blurrier year by year. I think Budapest is a city with wonderful architecture, and I love getting up early mornings to experience and photograph the peaceful sights of the capital city before they get overrun by the locals and the tourists.
